I'm not sure how far you want to move it, but I took a shifter from a 2005 GTO (Holden something out there), cut it in half, made a very simple mounting bracket, and extended the connector to the right length. You can move it just about as far forward as you like. In the process, I also reduced the throw a bit.
Just a thought.
