A while back I read that the Detroit GP promoter GAVE up the race because it was too expensive. Besides all the expense of putting on the race, finding sponsors and putting together prize monies. HE had to pay EACH driver 'appearance money, PLUS pay for the cars to be shipped to the race, AND pick up the FIRST CLASS airfare for the ENTIRE teams, And the hotel SUITES and DINING.
Could be a figure that would get a Congressman's attention. well, at least a raised eyebrow then.
