I honestly think that the operational structure and power of the federal government will rival Stalin's Russia in effect (but not intent and modus operandi). Fear, co-opted choices, tax-induced poverty, lack of privacy, etc.

Make 'em dumb, fearful and poor. Keep 'em under your thumb. Money is freedom, so the rest follows obviously......'Tis positively Machiavellian!

If you can get a generation or so thusly subjugated, you have them forever----especially when they are deprived of any sense of history----i.e. what it was like before the Great Change.....

Tax revolt time. Cutting off the fodder for the Great Spending Machine on the Potomac may be the only shot we've got. That is, before the ACORN acolytes* show up on our lawn.
