Wouldn't an analog to digital tuner solve your problem? Current draw on one of the assorted boxes out there must be very low and if you hurry you might still be able to score one of the $40.00 off coupons and save a few bucks. I don't think any manufacture currently sells a DC analog to digital converter box so you will still need a 12v to 117v AC converter for the digital tuner. I'd guess RackShack carries an inexpensive step up transformer that will easily power a digital converter box. I wonder if any of the digital converter boxes available use 'wall warts' for power? If any of them do the converter box might be set up for 12V DC already.
