Its all buried in what an owner expects to pay for a part or service.

I broke my windshield on a Lincoln Town Car about 10 years ago. My insurance covered it, but my friend who owns a glass shop showed me something.

If you were not covered by insurance and had to pay for it, the windshield was somewhere around $400. Hey, you drive a Lincoln. Bend over and open your wallet.

Of course, you could order the exact same windshield from the same company by ordering the windshield for the full size Ford offering (Galaxie, LTD, what ever it was) and the price was around $175.

Less than 1/2 price for the same item thru the same supplier.
