Generally speaking, if you actually hit the animal then it will be covered under the comprehensive portion of your coverage. If you miss the animal and hit a pole, it will be under your collision coverage. Just another one of those obscure insurance questions. I'd still turn this one in to the carrier though, that's what insurance is for.
