Default What is the best method to touch-up paint?

I have a SPF, royal blue with wimbleton white stripes. Down below the oil cooler I have about an eraser size chip if not slightly bigger in the white paint. Has anyone done there own touch-up with satisfactory results and if so what was the procedure? I have some Dupli-Color Scratch fix 2in1. Did you apply, let dry, wet sand (grit?) and buff? How about the clear coat....do they make clear touch-up paint as well to apply over the base coat? I know some of you consider road rash patina. I'm not looking to fix every little rock peck that comes around just the more obvious scars. Your comments will be greatly appreciated
