Driving impressions of the Exact 427 Carbon Cars.
Rosanne has put around 2500 miles on this car since May. It has been trouble free and is extremely reliable. The car is such a pleasure to drive. Anytime she is nice enough to let me drive it I jump at the opportunity. I have driven it a couple of hundred of those miles and it is really impressive.
Being as light as it is you can imagine it is very quick. At all speeds is appears to be very stable and predictable. I have had it up to a steady 120 and except for the wind it if feel the same as 70. The steering is quick and responsive. You can let go of the wheel and it tracks perfectly straight. Seems stiff enough in the corners, the tires don't hit the fenders during hard cornering. The braking is by Wilwood and will stop easily in a straight line.
The fit and finish it excellent, not to mention Roger’s attention to detail that keeps it so close to an original car you have to look twice. At the San Marcos meet it received many compliments on its originality.
Here are a few of the specs.
The 351W engine from John York (York Sports cars) and it dyno'd in at 302 hp @ 5500rpm and the torque was 321@ 3700 rpm
300 lb springs on all 4 corners.
Weight distribution is 50% rear and 50% front.
Total weight came in at 1965 lbs. including 190 lbs added for driver and fuel!
Currently it is sitting on Yokohama Avids 245-60 x 15 front and 275-60x15 rear.
Rosanne picked up the silent auction deal for 3 hours of instruction and track time at Harris Hills Road. Since my Carbon Car will be for track use as well as road use I am looking forward to hearing how it well it goes on the track.
Later,
Richard
