Some std FE blocks were cast with part of the outer sideoiler molds in place. Many were cast with the 427's rear bulkhead and have the famous "66-427" cast on the rear of the block. This leads many to think the engine to be a actual 427 which in most cases it's not. Just a guess and also something to be aware of when shopping. Sounds like the seller might not know exactly what he has. So be sure to check out and question everything before any money changes hands.
