If you go the old British version make sure you try and get new parts where possible, as the wear on the coil and gear parts can be high. That said the system seems to work ok.

A bloke near me used the standard fitting which the wipers attached to but modified the inside of these to allow solid rods to be fitted with adjustable couplings.

This is one of the harder bits to get right on a cobra and even with his rods and adjustments it wasn't easy to make work properly.
