Jack the price up too high, demand drops, producers have over-flowing storage tanks. Someone caves and drops their price, others under-cut them...
Just a market blip that occured right around an election and if it stays down we'll forget about drilling for our own sources (again), that is until the next time.
But we're well on our way down the path to fantasy land banking on non-existant energy alternatives to save our way of life instead of building our reserves "just in case" the miracle of something more efficent than burning
oil doesn't occur. Of course let's not forget the slew of base chemicals that make plastics and other products that we produce from crude
oil.
