There are three wires coming from the harness: Pink, Green, & Violet. You will cut the violet wire, tape it off, and never use it again. The remaining pink and green wires from the harness go to the NEW brake switch. All other wires can be dispensed with; Bob's instructions show how to make a nice, neat job with the connectors, pins, etc. But basically, the end goal is to have the pink and green wires going to the new switch and everything else disconnected. There are no red and black wires; the picture that looks like red and black is really just Bob's way of displaying pink and green.
