I have to admit that I am quite surprised by this outcome. And pleased. And in of all places, California. Maybe this will roll across the country to other states where courts have ruled that GM is "constitutional". As for the 18,000 marriages, the judge should have reverted those to "partnerships". Its going to be a mess for years out there.
