I've got a digital noise meter I used to check exhaust levels with. If you were a bit closer it would be easy to check it before getting the official test done. I've got a mate in Avenel that's got one as well and he has the calibrated noise source too. But that's probably even further than Shep for you.

You can pick them up for a couple of hundred these days but it depends on how often you'll use it.
