You can't go wrong with the ERA (one of the finest) but you will have to wait for it. Check with them for current delivery schedule.
Use the search function here to get info on different vendors/options.
Many local shows/get togethers you can visit in the area to see different makes. Check www.socalcarculture.com and the regional sections of various sites like this one, ffcobra.com and saac.com to find the local events.
Fab work will vary by vendor but they will all have a bit of tweaking and fitting to get everything just right.
Not much investment required on tools unless you want to do some custom work.
