And yet more chicken-little sludge flavoured Kool-Aid from World Net Daily.

First off, this would not make any knives illegal to own - it would reclassify a single knife with assisted opening mechanism as a switchblade, and therefore make it against the law to import them from abroad or to sell them across state lines. The only knife in question is something called the VanHoy Assist. Swiss Army, Buck, and a whole slew of others would not be affected.

Second, the Feds do not have the power to ban a product - they can only limit the interstate sale of that product using the commerce clause. If it is against the law in your state to carry a switchblade it is because of your state legislature.

And finally - those of you who need to whine about this should take it up with the GOP as it was Republican Dwight D Eisenhower who signed the switchblade bill into law, NOT Obama.
