STeve, actually i believe reports are 2 dead (both locals) and 30-50 wounded. There are several thing that bother me with this video... First, the soldiers don't appear to feel any threat = BAD! They will hit you when you are relaxed. 2nd, by letting the locals gather in a mass crowd like that, it was just asking for something bad to happen. luckily for the crowd and our guys on the ground, it wasn't a suicide bomber or a car bomb because the damage would have been much worse! I think the reason it wasn't such an attack is because the bad guys were hoping it would do a little more damage and make Us look bad. We are trying to win these villages over and they like to take any chance possible to try to instill doubt in the villagers. They know that if we win the villages over, it means they can no longer be harbored in those villages. They can no longer collect tax from those villages. The TB was hurt BADLY in the finance department this spring when we seized hundreds of tons of their opium seeds that would have turned into drugs and sold to fund their cause. With more men on the ground, we are also able to crack down on the lumber trade that is another of their big revenue sources.
