My new Peterson 3 stage pump with 1.100" internal dual feed pressure section has -16AN pump fittings on the Pressure In, and Scavenge Out sections.
I will use the -16 line on the pressure in, since they have provided that size, and my
oil tank has all -16 port sizes.
On the single scavenge -16 outlet I can purchase a port fitting from Peterson that would go down to a -12AN return line, as I am intending on fitting these to the circuit Canton CM Screen inspection filter, Canton T/Stat and
Oil Cooler all in -12AN sizing and avoid the cumbersome monsterous -16 plumbing...........!
Peterson have provided the -16 scavenge outlet for a reason but as their 4 & 5 stage pumps have a single -16 return line I am thinking with my non sealed engine I can get away with the -12 plumbing for a 3 stage pump.
One alternative might be to fit the T/stat and Cooler to the Pressure circuit, as cooling airated
oil isnt the most efficient.
I am thinking there are too many different components on a Dry sump system and it is over complicated or I am over complicating the design, an alternative might be not to run a T/Stat as my car is mainly a race car, but still fit my -12 oil cooler in the circuit with smaller visible from front of car oil lines going back to -16 to the Oil Tank. I would emagine a -16 fitting type oil cooler to be total overkill in sizing.
