piece of cake. the distributor pulled straight up with no issues. Plenty of room. The msd distributor is very small MSD#8578. I can imagine a big ford distributor might have issues. My suspicions were correct the shaft is rusted where the shaft goes through the advance mechanism. The advance requires a fair a mount of preasure to move. I have purchase a new one and have msd rebuild the old one as a spare
