Jim, when I purchased my car it was equipped with a chrome one-wire alternator (probably the most popular for hot rods, mods etc.) Mine stopped charging some while back and I finally got around to replacing it. It was about $130 for a 100 amp unit with shipping from California. The outfit I bought it from builds them so that they start charging at a low RPM. One of the folks at their shop actually called me to talk about the application and ensure the configuration I ordered was right prior to shipping, which impressed me. Everything works great now.
