The air force and Navy would play big roles in any war with that place. Controlling the sky was what helped the first time. With all of the mountains and narrow dirt roads, there is no room for armor to maneuver nor many ground forces to spread out.
I remember going to Kimpo to see the first MIG that the pilot defected to S.K. Our guys were astonished at how simple it was for them to replace the gun assembly. It took about 3 hours with a 6 man crew to replace the burned out barrels on our Sabers with new ones. On the Mig they could change the complete gun assembly in about 15 minutes and have it back in the air. That explained why they could get in so many flights per day while ours were rather limited at that time. I also doubt if their pilots are really well trained now either.
