In my opinion there's much more intrinsic value in a brand new, finished car that you can just drive away. While the cost of parts and labour for a basic turn key might be in the vacinity of 70-80k, you pay a premium for not having to go through the heart ache of engineering, compliance, pits, VIN, etc, etc. Just sign the cheque and drive away.
