nice assumption there cobra bill. I would bet that many on this site experieced those tax hikes you speak of and did complain about it. Having max caps at around 50% of income in rediculous. no one should have to give up 1/2 of what they make for taxes. As it stands, I live comfortably right now. I do not pay the current max cap, but I am in the category that will go up under the new plans. Following the predictions, I will be taking home about the same as what I did 10 years ago. That is a huge cut in take home pay when you factor in inflation. Suddenly I am no longer comfortable and am struggling to make payments. No longer am I saving any money. So what is being created is a class that cannot spend money on anything other than necessities, not being able to save for retirement, people who never miss a payment and are never late are the new delinquents. Yea that is the way to bring the economy back.

Edit: I am not strictly against government run health care. I do not think this is the time to do it. doubling and tripling the debt is not how you fix the economy. All you do is delay the crash slightly. If Obama wants to be remembered as a great president he should announce (and follow through unlike Bush 1) that taxes will remain unchanged. Then force the government entities to work within the budgets. If a program is not fruitful, or is just frivolous it gets cut.
