Default New management of Monterey Historics

Apparently Steve Earle and SCRAMP (which operates Laguna Seca) are going separate ways after 36 years and not parting the best of friends. I've heard from some entrants over the years that Steve can be more than a bit of a tyrant (which is what is usually required in a race promoter), but its sure been a good show for a long time and Steve's relationships with owners and manufacturers will be hard to replace. Hope the SCRAMP folks don't screw it up.

My other concern is the encroaching residential and commercial development of the Fort Ord property where the track is located. I can almost guarantee that in a few years the new residents will start squawking about the noise & traffic the track generates and get it zoned out of existence. Same as what happened to Bridgehampton on Long Island. Nothing this good lasts forever.
