Welcome to the forum.
My car has a cable, too, but I would rather have hard linkage. I can't stop driving long enough to fabricate something. Cables break and the hydraulics don't seem to be much better than cables. Some friend's that have hydraulics have had them break or leak or both.
Either way have fun with your ride and post some pictures. By the way, where are you located?
