Shoot them dead center right behind the eyes (like this one) and haul azz over there because they sink like a rock after you hit 'em. Air boat is a must, get the mouth taped up ASAP as well as the tail tied down. Sometimes they're just stunned and a pissed gator on the boat is bad news.

Not as bad as hogs though, shot one twice and still had to climb up a tree. About five minutes later it colapsed, when I cleaned it one of it's lungs was hanging part way out of the hole. Tough animal.

After this I gave up on the 30-30 and use a 45-70, no suprizes.
