Deoxidine rust remover (purchased at local hardware store) worked wonders for me. Applied it to the intake with a paint brush, waited a hour or so, rinsed the intake with water and dried. Got the original finish again.
Ps. Also worked great on the stainless side pipes to remove the yellow discolouring due to heat. Same process used as above.
