I imagine there are plenty of SPF's with pre-1979 titles driving around, depending on the protocol of the state in which the car is titled. I think I recall a thread that stated North Carolina was now allowing Cobras to be legally titled as 1965 - there are more.

Gardelic, try some searches on this site for "register" and "title" and with a little reading you will probably find most of the states that allow an SPF to be legally registered as a 1965 model. Don't anything about New York DMV.
