I was once told by a Chemical Engineer that base paint is gray when first made. Therefore to tint it white, you need a lot more pigment than other colours. Hence the reason for white paint being weaker and a lot more rusty white cars out there than other colours.

Not that a fibrglass body would rust, but interesting info if it's correct.
