289 Chassis:
Used 3" main tubes with A-Pillars that supported front and back transverse leaf springs for suspension dynamics. The body was narrower thus so were the discrete tubes that supported the thin ally body. Hubs were spline drive units that sufficed for street use, pin drive were comp use.
427 Chassis:
Used 4" main tubes spread wider with full coilover suspension front and back. Shelby did offer a few upgrades for extra support using angle iron welded to A-arms. In general the discrete tubes that supported the body were a bit more encompassing as the body was wider. Hubs were all pin drive as spline drive would not hold up to the 427 power.
