The weater was great... a bit hot, but only a few raindrops entering Helen... or was that coolant??
Thanks to Mrs Chill (Laura) for the photos.

What do all these pics have in common???

Grins and Cobras!!! Was so great to see the non-Cobra owner's reactions to the parade of serpents. The best thing is people give you a thumbs up, while I am getting sore waving to every two-wheeled vehicle on the road.

P.S. Great pics Mrs. Chill!! These must be return trip pics since I am not in the pics. ;)

Great pics. One of these days my smilin' mug will be in one. I spent the day setting steel beams for my back porch(pan slab). Next house I'm hiring a builder!

Or is it chill being passed in all these photo ops?? :3DSMILE:

ToyCollector 07-27-2003 07:29 PM

SFCJ is catching up on my post count again ;) ...so I have to ask...

anyone else sunburned???

southernfriedcj 07-27-2003 07:31 PM

Sunburned?

southernfriedcj 07-27-2003 07:32 PM

Yes.

southernfriedcj 07-27-2003 07:32 PM

Yes I am.

southernfriedcj 07-27-2003 07:33 PM

Sorry Mike. You were probably talking about a Cobra sunburn. I got mine working on the high steel.:3DSMILE:

southernfriedcj 07-27-2003 07:35 PM

To be more specific, the steel was high, not me.

ToyCollector 07-27-2003 07:36 PM

SFCJ, what are you doing in high places with rigid objects ;)

southernfriedcj 07-27-2003 07:49 PM

Mike, I don't like pressure treated decks. On our lakehouse I used Trex, but I don't like it and I heard there is a recall on it(which sucks because we built the deck platform, set the hot tub, then framed the house and the screened porch around it).
On this "deck" I got an engineer who does our development projects to design a pan slab. We've got 8" block walls with brick veneer for the 4 sides, with W8X10 steel I-beams on 4' centers and 8"x8" angle for lintels. On top of that we put corrogated steel pans. On top of that will go a 4' thick concrete slab and 1&3/8" concrete pavers. This deck should last awhile, not to mention hold several fat chicks.:3DSMILE:

Thanks to everyone for a wonderful day. I am having a glass of excellent young Port (94 Taylor) to celebrate the occasion. Chill and Ms Chill, the pictures are great. Cracker, you only got 1 out of 3 right - weather was perfect, but you brought one of those German cars, and as to specific directions - Kroger it wasn't. However, you did it, and are to be commended. TC, you probably should thank Chill for not including a picture of your scooter with the roadsters - it has been 30 years since I last saw a Cushman on the road.

John, want another ride in the race car maybe at Road Atlanta?

...Just remember the words above...and bring a bag with you! ;) ;) ;) :3DSMILE:

Watching everyone else (even TC on his scooter) zoom away from Lori & I inspires me to get the car on the road. JO - next time I'll say grocery store; GS - Lori & I are now going to get matching hats - we liked the effect! TC - what is up with the umpteen million "peace" signs of bikers - it almost started to resemble arobics - or a fancy 70's disco move. Ed - thanks for the lead and fine food. Have a great one guys - I'm tired!

Chill - it was also nice to be passed by a Cobra - even if it was a small block!

GeorgiaSnake 07-28-2003 05:23 AM

Great pictures - never realized I was so handsome %/

Sunburn - I am not so handsome now - left arm burned to within two inches of my shoulder - right arm burned to about an inch above my elbow - I am somewhat strange looking now:LOL:

I love the image of a pack of snarling Cobras being lead by a scooter and followed by a relic.  A relic with a SMALL block :JEKYLHYDE and a roof to boot.

My car performed better than expected with so few miles on it and I experienced only a few small problems, it got a bit hot in that first line of traffic (230) and in my haste to get on the road I failed to tighten the hood bolts. Lost both bolts in the last few miles of the 170 mile trip. I also realize I need to take the 5000 rpm chip out and install the 7000 chip.

Andrea had so much fun she went out and bought a really cool collaspable cooler that we will velcro to the hump. She wants to do this again soon. Her suggestions are: leave earlier, travel more twisties with less traffic, pick a shady destination with a lake, have a picnic on the ground and last but most important . LET HER DRIVE %/ at least one way.

The hat worked great all day only to fly off within a mile of the house while going about 35 mph. I will install a strap this week.

Thanks guys and gals we had a ball.

Randy

Mr. Hull, don't worry, most big block guys get used to that feeling.;)

All good ideas. Laura and I were talking about that same trip, but in October!! ...but maybe take the twistie route..

ToyCollector 07-28-2003 08:37 AM

I am sure you all noticed how many of the hard core bikers were headed south while we were headed north. Best times to be there are between 7-9:30. After that, the Buicks and RVs take over. Fortunately, the two-wheelers can get around these rolling chicanes easily. :3DSMILE:

Randy, want to see a funny sun tan? I wore gauntlet gloves with my shirtsleeves. I have 9 inches midway up my forearm darker than my hands and biceps...or should I say brighter?

Robert T. Faust 07-28-2003 11:12 AM

WOW, looks like everyone had a great time with all those smiles and grins. Cobras do that to people, either driving or viewing. Great looking group of cars.
Bob
