The local gas station owner must really love you.

That's not your garage... not Bill's either...

Looks like someone drilled some holes in your valve covers. You might wanna get a refund on those. :D

Boy am I glad to see a "Hot Rod" without a small block Chevy engine for a change!

Nothing against Chevy (OK, maybe some) but there are SO many Hot Rods with one I'm just sick of seeing it!

I THOUGHT Hot Rods were supposed to be different!

My thoughts exactly Ernie. Why build another small block Chevy Rod. The market's been cornered on those. My other idea was to put a 428 FE in this thing, but the Hemi just has the "look" and sound I want. I always wanted a Hemi.

excelguru 08-01-2003 07:41 PM

I can hear all the stop-light comments, already... "Hey.. that thang got a hemi?" -

And I agree with your comments about the small block rods. I'm a SO sick and tired of seeing them. I walk up to their open hoods hoping to see something different... anything different. Bor-ing.

ToyCollector 08-01-2003 07:50 PM

p.s. When you see this thing done, you will see exactly one inch clearance in all the critical areas. You may see less in some. We have spent 4 months just rigging the motor. Today we even thought of a way to shave 1 inch in height off the air cleaner and make it look better. This one has been like a sheet of canvas, '32 Ford canvas, but canvas none the less. Keeper.

Keith, this is a candidate for the KING of garages. I would happily eat food on those floors. The man who owns this place is doing this as a hobby. The floors are scrubbed almost daily with Pine-Sol. The building next door could actually make income as a museum (the family collection). I actually say this "compund" is more awesome by a touch in it's inventory than the place in Ranger ;) . I met Bill on the highway, and he followed me there. When we got out of our cars together, Bill instantly did a B-line to a Olds with a J-2 motor they had outside way out of the way. He was grinning ear to ear the whole time we were there. It was great. That Olds was worth around 40K according to him.

AHHHH YES - Yet another sweet ride for your garage. I love the hemi :D

What color can we expect ? Something different perhaps. How about some specs on the driveline, brakes etc. I love street rods and considered doing one instead of the Cobra.

40th anniversary Shelby blue. Most striking color (this is personal as you know) that I have seen in 18 months. Can only be appreciated in person, in the sun, even non-sun. PPG color. It is striking on a Cobra, hoping similar on this.

p.s. silver and/or gray is still my first choice based on 6 vehicles with those colors ;)

Isn't it supposed to be..."Is that a real small block Chevy?..."

Carrerajon 08-01-2003 09:57 PM

Hey Fast Guy!! This is turning out to be a Stunning Project!! \

Now aren't you glad I talked you into the Hemi! What a cool idea!

See you this weekend!

TC,
Car looks great!! I thought you were considering a bright laser green color? Either way it is going to look sweet when finished. Concur on the non small block chevy route, it will be a real head turner at car shows.

392 ?????

BigEasy 08-02-2003 05:29 PM

TC;
This HighBoy will be the hit of the car show circuit. I too agree on the Hemi choice, as bowties in rods are a dime a dozen---and I'm guilty. Built a 33 Chev 5-window coupe a long time ago with a 350 Chev.

I hope one day to own a Hemi---it may be on an engine stand in my garage, but how sweet it is just look upon!:D

Keep up the good work....

You going to have two white stripes on that Cobra blue???
Did you get your hole punched??
