New Thread Just Because....

OK... here's how you spend a few hours while the airport in Atlanta is shut down... and you are in Raleigh... on a plane... waiting..... waiting... (fortunately with a wireless modem)

Not that I think I will do much towing, but the Jimmy HAD TO GO.... and it's better to have more than you need than less... right TC??
Last week I picked up a new Tow-yota Tundra. Of course the problem is that it's in the Atlanta Airport parking..... Looks something like this
http://www.toyota.com/images/vehicle...or/photo_1.jpg

All Black, Limited, access cab, TRD Sport stepside..... so far loving it.... I just wish it was here then I'd be moving down 85 south. Plans are to increase the stock 245 hp to 385 with factiry supercharger, dual pipes, ...all under warranty...

About time.

I happen to be driving the same truck you bough but in white.

Unfortunately (or fortunately), I cannot mod this one, it's a demo:eek:

Did that little bit of Cobra blood on the back bumper increase the trade in value?

MidOHasp 04-13-2004 05:39 AM

More companies need to develop factory "bolt-on" performance that is covered under warranty.

Anyone who doesn't think the horsepower wars are back (and my how they are back) isn't paying attention to the fact that 400HP is available in vehicles from nearly every major manufacturer out there, and some are exceeding 500 in "non-tuner" models, even.

The new SL600 with dual turbo V12 and an automatic is doing 0-60 quicker than the 1996 Porsche 911 Turbo, which at one point was the "ultimate supercar"!!

I know personally, I'm looking at the new F150s because to me, they are an amazing new truck. I'm also a huge fan of the Tundra, but the 245HP turned me off (factory blower changes that a litte).

It's hard to jump full force into the Ford knowing that I could have a 345HP hemi powered Ram, although the hemi is all I like about the Ram. But after spending nearly $40K for a completely optioned out F150 Lariat, I'd hate to void the warranty by putting a Paxton blower on it.

So, the question guys, is how long will it be before there is a check-box right under the "voice activated GPS navigation system" option for a factory (or dealer) installed blower, covered under warranty, you pick the boost... from more than one marque.

I'd love to say I just picked up my 420 HP F150 from the dealer yesterday. Perhaps some day....

Hector, I actually was admiring a very similar black stepside at Deerfield and Brent made the comment that "We could make that happen..." and there it is! I also e-mailed Frank A. to let him know I was in the right vehicle.

I can't wait to drive it after a bit of factory bolt-on HP, its already pretty quick.

chill 04-14-2004 06:31 PM

p.s. Tony, nothing was going to help the trade-in value on that car.... :D

ToyCollector 04-14-2004 06:52 PM

Clyde, cool stuff and I guess I need to hear more about the actual purchase piece and how it came about as well as the factory bolt on stuff. I believe you did mention it this weekend in passing, but had no idea it was a "stuck in Raleigh" thing.

GeorgiaSnake 04-15-2004 06:54 AM

Hector do you sell Toyota's or did you just steal a demo?

Chill tell me more about this bolt on HP that doesn't void the warranty.

Randy

Cracker 04-15-2004 07:19 AM

Chill - It looks like you need to take your car back to southern to get the "super" SB conversion or add a trialer hitch to it so you can pull around your race vehicle. Nothing cooler than having a DD thats faster than the hotrod!%/ Can't wait to see a 400 hp TRUCK!!!:D

hcollado 04-15-2004 05:03 PM

Good one Randy. I work for Southeast Toyota Finance. The finance arm for Toyota in the 5 southeast states. I get a demo to drive and look good :D

Chill and I work for the same parent company.

Specialk 04-15-2004 06:01 PM

Speaking of blowers,,

Chris Weisberg from Shelby Enterprises was on the team that developed that Tundra supercharger package for Toyota Racing Development. And as far as supercharged F-150's, they exist in both standard cab and 4-door version (Lightning and Harley trucks). He has a bunch of customers making over 600 crank horsepower on pump gas out of those beasts!

GeorgiaSnake 04-15-2004 07:24 PM

Chill - Hector - anybody - I need a deal - Pathfinder is in the shop and it's going to cost me $900 to get it back.

Randy

chill 04-15-2004 07:31 PM

Randy, I recommend Atlanta Toyota.... not sure what kinda deal I can get you but I can give you a name of who to talk to.

As for the bolt-on HP. TRD makes a factory warranteed supercharger that adds around 118 hp and is covered by the factory engine warranty. Add the blower, dual exhausts, headers (all TRD - Toyota parts department stuff) and you're close to 380-385 hp... under warranty. I am not sure of the 0-60 times, but you can bet it will be at the strip the first opportunity after its done. .. oh, Cracker, it has a towing package and 7300 lb capacity.... so I will tow the Cobra to the strip and run the truck!!!

ToyCollector 04-15-2004 07:43 PM

SpecialK,

Had quite a nice chat with Chris the other day. I here you know a thing or two about some of this late model stuff as well!! :MECOOL: :)

hcollado 04-15-2004 09:29 PM

Randy, call me at 770-335-9266 if you need help.

I am sure that Chill will guide you the right way %/ %/

No seriously, let us help you if you are interested.

GeorgiaSnake 04-15-2004 09:54 PM

Hector I may do that - I need a pickup truck to drag my car around. As long as it's got 10 more hp than chill I'll be a happy camper.

Randy

mzhun 04-16-2004 08:22 AM

I just picked up the Loaded HEMI last week and am looking at installing a chip, headers, exhaust and cold air injection...:D Should push it over 400Hp and be plenty to haul to car. I was on the fence over the F-150 and the Dodge until I spoke with a rep at Ford that wouldn't budge on price and/or options. All things considered, I got the same truck for 5K less, but I'm sure that is debatable.

It must be truck season. :)

I traded in my v6 Dakota two weeks ago and ended up buying used (got to pay for that new engine). Plus, I got a deal that I didn't want to pass up: November '02 F-150 SuperCrew Lariat with the 5.4, Limited Slip, and 100k mile warranty. Truck had 20k miles and talked the dealer down to $20,500. Love it!

chill 04-16-2004 12:47 PM

Sounds like the next Atlanta Dragway night is going to be real interesting.....

The Atlanta Club Cobra Tow Vehicle Grudge Match

....and we may run a few Cobras too...%/

ToyCollector 04-16-2004 03:31 PM

Clyde, I'd be up for that. I may even take the prize with my soot monster!!
