You could stick that 427 on your riding mower and probably get in to one of the modified classes out at the Mitty - or at least get the pasture mowed really fast :D

Mitty details

Randy

Try this link...www.classicmotorsports.net or the web site for Grassroots motorsports. They manage the promotional aspects of the race. The cost if I remember correctly....a problem at my age......is $45 for weekend with infield parking. Let me know if you can't get the info.

Bad news...looks like thunderstorms all day Saturday.....Hope this changes , as several of us were planning on being there.

Cracker 04-28-2005 07:16 PM

I'm going on Friday and bringing my 6-year old son - anyone else gonna be there?

chipperb 05-01-2005 05:25 PM

Great day! Thanks Rob Ginn!, Boy, did all the no shows miss out on you-know-what! WOW! cb

HSSS427 05-01-2005 07:31 PM

Thanks to Rob

I'll add my thanks to Rob as well for the burgers, beer, and nice parking space!

Great day, perfect weather, and lots of neat cars. The parade lap was also fun, but as usual, not nearly as fast as many of us would have liked? However, I did notice that didn't keep the guy in the green Panoz from managing to spin out going into the esses - what a goof! I also noticed that the mini-van club apparently got invited into the parade lap as well

We really should try to get a better ACC turnout next time.

Johan 05-01-2005 08:14 PM

I had a couple of Rob's burgers, and took up a couple of parking spaces as well. Thanks Rob for a really nice weekend. You really made it happen for us by keeping the race cars out of the rain. I owe you big.
Thanks !

Mike Simard 05-02-2005 06:43 AM

Thrill of victory, agony of defeat, the human drama! And that was the parade laps! I've never seen so many Crown Vics and VW busses on the track at once. The orange bus was hilarious. It went by one lap on the tail of a car but nobody behind him, like he was being held up.
Johan, how did your race go?
There was a FFR spec racer with the qualifying GT1 cars on Saturday. Can Cobra replicas now compete in historic races or does it have to be a spec racer or conform to GT1?

GeorgiaSnake 05-02-2005 06:59 AM

Didn't make it up Sunday as planned but Saturday was unbelievable. Hope you guys saw the F-1 car at speed WOW ! The guy had a fast ride and could ring it out - what brakes - flat out on the back straight (180 mph +?) then brake in less than 200 feet to what appeared to be about 40 mph. How about the GTP cars coming out of seven - zip - zip - zip and they were gone. Then the big honker cup cars lifting a wheel at 5.

Sorry I missed you guys at Rob's. I spent most of the time in the pit area looking at cars and then moved out to 7 and then 5. When I finally drove over to see you guys it looked like it everyone was gone.

Randy

chipperb 05-02-2005 07:41 AM

The actual races on Sunday were great! Short (6 laps) and extended caution parade laps counted! The formula cars (GP etc) were turning 1:12 per lap! For a 2.4 mile course! Do the math (I tried-can't). One came by after the race on a flatbed crushed and minus a lot of parts: totaled. What happens when you allow a rookie use a weapon.

Did free laps in the Lotus Elise (sp?) Big fast go kart! Chill, you are in for the ride of of your life. Wach out Cobras, that 1.8 liter will be a threat!

FF5 Spec racer did run but too fast a class. It dropped out.

There were cars from all over the US. Road Atlanta is a world class track in our back yard. Have been going since it opened. Saw the original CA Ams there. (Have watched a lot and done a lot of laps, on bothe the present course and the old course that was a straight down to and under the bridge: then the track dropped out from under you. Lost brakes under the bridge in a 308: Thanks to the grace of the pit road exit!). Let's support it! And now you can drive it with the Panos school or NASA SE!.

HSSS427 05-02-2005 08:07 AM

What's the scoop on NASA?

Joe from Classic Motorsports mag was going to take me by the NASA booth and introduce me, but they'd already packed up. Needless to say, the parade lap just made me antsy to be able to run the course without the mini vans and Friday afternoon 75/85 traffic jam on the back straight.

What's required with NASA, what's the format, and how much is it?

I'll check their web site, but wanted to get the real scoop.
Thanks!
Scott

Alex Donghi 05-02-2005 08:17 AM

I made it finally Sunday around 2:30 about in time to see the Bud car 61. Beautifull day! Johan did you get the email I sent about the train?

John Owen 05-02-2005 08:44 AM

I stopped by midday Sunday on my way back from Savannah - OK slight detour - visited with Rob Ginn then went to the FFR outpost to say hi and order a part. Wish more of those guys would come to the ACC events. Great day but could not stay long. On the way out there was a tie-dyed shirt on a pit bike 50' ahead. It wasn't me, so must have been Johan.
