Jag suspension on Contemporary Cobra
Hello,
Anybody out there got a Contemporary with a Jag suspension? I'm installing new larger torsion bars and am not sure where to start guessing. The standard measurements for this suspension on a Jaguar are far different than the measurement points on a Contemporary. I would really prefer to not have to "trial and error" it several times. So if anybody out there knows the proper proceedure, I would much appreciate some tips...Also - anybody know if there is any such thing as a shop manual for these cars, like the one ERA puts out??
Thanks, drsamm

drsamm,
I have a build manual and may be able to scan the part of the book specific to torsion bar installation as a pdf. On a side note: email me at jdgagnon1@juno.com and we can sign you up in the Contemporary Owners Group. It's free and will allow you access to several emails and phone #'s of CCX owners. Many have built their cars and many even race and have upgraded suspensions. Recently that was one of our topics of discussion.
There is support for these cars and if you own one lets get you in the loop!

drsamm,
I have a set of 427 big block torsion bars I used for about 3 months, if you
are interested. Let me know I live in Dawsonville Ga.
I also have a factory manual.

Jeff,
Thanks for the quick reply! Your kind offer to join the owner's group is very interesting to me and I'd definitely like to do so. My car was built in '86 and I bought it from the original owner in '99. I'm not much of a computer person, so I'm really having to feel my way around this site. I would very much appreciate the info. from your manual, if you can easily send it. I'm not sure if the site gives you my email address (see above about computers...) but if it didn't, it is drsamm3@aol.com. You can certainly feel free to use it anytime to send info. or to just talk about the cars in general or whatever. If that is your's in the picture, it's beautiful and is identical to mine in color/stripes. Thanks again, and I'll be in touch with you about the owner's group...
Best regards, Don M.

Hello Don,
Nice to know that there is somebody close around with one of these cars or stuff to go with them. I already have some larger bars which are the ones I'm installing and asking the questions about, but I may be also interested in your's too. Never hurts to have extra things like this...I would be very interested in seeing one of these manuals too. I had no idea if one even existed, so it was a shot in the dark to ask, but with the excellent construction and detail of these cars it was hard for me to believe that they didn't make some effort in this area from the factory. I sure would like to get a close up look at one and maybe a copy if it's possible. My email address is drsamm3@aol.com. I'd sure like to talk some more about this if you get the chance in the next few days...Thanks again for the reply.
Best regards, Don M.
