Did the new AC make the Frankfurt show?
 

Found some pictures.Here's a story. My question is: is it really going to be marketed as the AC Cobra? I thought Shelby owned the name "Cobra?"
And I couldn't fiugre out if it is going to have an alloy body option. Here's the website:

AC Cars brings the AC Cobra Mark VI to the Geneva Motor Show next week. The sixth mark of the AC Cobra comes at a time when AC Cars celebrates its 110th birthday.
The Cobra Mark VI won’t be completely British anymore, AC Cars had to look for help in the USA and Germany to make the next generation Cobra possible. The German company “Gullwing GmbH” has apointed three production locations for the new Cobra. One in the United States, one in the United Kingdom and one in Germany itself, where the first examples will be produced.
Alan Lubinsky, CEO of AC Cars Limited said:
We’ve deliberately kept a low profile in recent months as we worked with the members of the AC family worldwide to breathe new life into our revered brand, and we will be announcing further exciting developments during 2011.
What we know is that the GT Roadster will be powered by a 6.2 liter Corvette V8 that can be found in the C6. This engine will produce 437hp. A sprint from standstill to 100km/h will be done in just 3.9 seconds. But that’s not all, there will also be a GTS version that will produce 647hp which will do the same sprint in only 3.3 seconds.

No it didn't make the Frankfurt show as Frankfurt is not in Geneva. Geneva is in Geneva.......

No, it's not a Cobra - it's the MkVI. Also those images are now over two years old since hardtop has been 'disappeared' for some time.

Oh, take me back to Constantinople, no you can't go back to Constantinople, if you have a date in Constantinople, she'll be waiting in Istanbul. And there will be no AC MkVI at the Constantinople international automobile show this year. Thank goodness.

Wally, Trevor is kind of busy at the moment on his walkabout home from Malta. Since Trevor is busy, could you stop by AC Heritage/Brooklands and take some spy pictures or paint some spy paintings for us. If you do, I'll travel backwards in time to last weekend and take some pictures of shiny Kirkhams for you and post them in an appropriate thread.

The Geneva show is the best out of the Europe shows, the girls all wear matching outfits for the cars and are spectacular.

Said it before, I'll say it again...people, AC CARS DOES NOT EXIST ANYMORE! THERE IS AN ENTITY "ACEDES HOLDINGS LLC" WHICH "OWNS" THE AC TRADEMARKS, NAMES AND IP. Slapping an "AC" emblem on something does not make it an "AC" anymore than signing "Piccaso" on your kids pre-school finger painting makes it a "Piccaso"!!!!!:eek:

I seem to recall Mr Angliss 'slapped' an AC badge on his Autokraft MkIV after signing an agreement with Derek Hurlock. So, not much difference with what Steve Gray has done at AC Heritage. ;)

Both companies based at Brooklands, England, both companies using former AC employees. In my opinion, AC Heritage's 'continuation' cars have the edge on Angliss's standard Mk IV.

My statement stands but I am not really refering to Mr. Gray's operation which is at least in the "spirit" of "AC". I refer to Maltese/CT./Michigan/German attempts to produce motorcars or announced attempts to do same.

The Angliss early "Autokraft" built ACs were a licensed deal but again were in the spirit of AC and in fact were done in period when AC was "out" of the automotive business and was operating more as a real estate holding company than any sort of automotive manufacturer. Had the Hurlocks desired however, they COULD have turned the machinery on and produced so sort of wheeled apparatus with an "AC" badge and it would have been an "AC".

The current ownership has no such capacity; no factory, no tooling, no skills and most importantly, no capital to do any such thing. One of the main incomes streams (such as it is) for "Acedes Holdings" is the license fees from he manufacture of "AC" products. When AC Car Group went bust one of the largest creditors was Acedes who was owed for use of the logo, IP and other licensed items. Do you think General Motors charges itself for the Corvette trademark? Or is "AC" set up to milk a stream of income from repeated attempts to produce and/or sell a few "motorcars"??????

I understand where you are coming from, but I think it would be unfair to compare Jurgen Mohr's Gullwing operation with the abortive Maltese escapade. From what I have read, the AC Mk VI is significantly different from the 'Mohr' Cobras and respected journals here in the UK ('Autocar' and 'Octane') reckon it is a fine product. Not a total clone of the 1966 MkIII, but then if you want one of those, AC Heritage will oblige!

On a slightly different note, AC Mk IVs in the UK appear to be appreciating in value with the best cars at £100,000+, in contrast to the US where they seem to be undervalued. Probably due to the relevant values placed on the AC and Shelby marques in the UK and US.

Nobody is saying the MkVI is a dog but the underpinnings remain Dax-related. The new body is a mold splashed from the UK (you can guess who supplied said vehicle). Showing a new 'Cobra' sort-of shaped-ish vehicle to the world when it was a lightly modded Dax was not a smart move on anyones part. Badge engineering in its purest form. The current 'AC' situation cannot compare to the Angliss/AC agreement in any way, two totally different animals.


I look forward to seeing my new book. Maybe I should get under way with the writing? Anyone got $20,000+ to get it into print? But I am working on a Cobra book but it will be a one-off. Can say no more.
