That is a great car...So long as you are not the passenger!!! You see the placement of the roll bar? & The rear end in the BigBlock car doesn't "appear" to sit square in the fenders. or is it just an illusion?

Interesting. Both cars are sitting on the showroom floor at Canepa Design in Scotts Valley, CA

WOW.. that 427 stret car is awesome, it looks almost as good as my Midstates street car and the 57 AC Bristol was cool looking also.

Registry says the 3357 is a 428 engine, not a 427 S.O. as posted in the ad. Originally blue in color and wide-hip car.

That 289 car takes me back to my youth. I believe this is this car I almost bought in 1968 for the sum of $6600. I could afford the payments but the insurance was going to really put me in a bind. It gives me the chills to think that after all these years the car is still out there. At the time I was driving my 48 ford thus the name that I use here. Barbour owned a booming gas station business in Ceres Ca. I would get my gas there along with my fishing supplies.
He always had stuff for the sportsman at good prices plus some groceries. His store was as busy as the gas pumps.

Do you think the car moved or it's a misprint? Says Los Angeles location. If it's(or they) in a local showroom I'd love to go take a peek.

It looks like the person who listed the cars on Craigslist is acting as some kind of agent for Canepa (or something strange is going on).

It's strange that the poster would say that the cars are located in Los Angeles, when the contact phone number is San Jose, and the website classicandracingcar.com is located in Santa Cruz. All of the cars on the website are cars that are for sale at Canepa.

The first thing that seemed a little strange was that is was posted on Craigs List. Sounds to me like the Cars aren't here in Los Angeles based on all of the combined info. I'd agree that it all seems a little strange

That's what mine says; Originally Cobra Blue, 428 engine and wide-hip street car.
Interesting!

I would suspect that a restoration of this extremely high quality, the rear end would be dead nuts square.
That car is nothing short of amazing quality & the shop that accomplished it should be very proud of their work.

Larry, What 'Registry' are you reading? The SAAC World Registry 2008 the 1997 edition show the car as a (single 4V) 427, as most CSX33xx were.

It's the SAAC Registry, from 1976. It doesn't say anything about the carb, just that it's a 428.

1976! %/
There has been a tremendous amount of information added to the Registry since then. In 1976 Bill Kemper was the "Director of the World Registry". By the time the 1982 Registry was produced, Ned Scudder was the Cobra Registrar and additional information was known and CSX3357 was shown as a 428.

There has been a 1987, a 1997 and now a 2008 Registry produced with MUCH MUCH more information on the cars. :D

Order one and you'll have a great read. :3DSMILE:

Yeah, it almost an antique itself.

Maybe, over the course of the last 33 years, some electrolysis has occurred in the cylinder heads, and what was thought to be a 428 then has been reduced to a 427? Nah.

Jim Maxwell 11-08-2009 10:32 AM

I think some electrolysis has occurred on lots of heads over the last 33 years, but I won't post pictures to show this, as they are just too sad. Those heads have gone from "flattops" to "hemispherical".
