Makes sense. Why not?

Gunner 10-27-2009 10:04 AM

And probably has nothing to do with a drastic fall-off in new engine orders. :)

BTW, if no one's noticed it, you can now get the major components for a Dove SOHC 427 for just over $10k - a 50% cut.

I'm sure it has everything to do with making money and keeping things going especially in this economy.

Last I checked we live in a Capitalistic system although that may change with this administration.

SAI is doing nothing different than any other entrepreneur. Trying to make money.

And your point therefore is????

:)

I have to agree with Evan. It's the American way, and it's the reason most of us can spend what we did on a stupid toy.

RodKnock 10-27-2009 10:19 AM

Agreed. Times are tough right now. Every business is looking for ways to make money in this economy.

With a CSX Cobra, a CS-signed dash and the tag from CS Engine Company, an owner will be getting the "Trifecta" or it is a "hat trick"?

More like nil, null, and void. :p

lineslinger 10-27-2009 10:48 AM

So...........if its not a "REAL" Shelby engine in a "REAL" Shelby car, is that car really a "REAL 1" or is it just a semi "REAL 1" and require a "REAL" Shelby built engine in it to justify claiming it to be a complete and "REAL 1" continuation ?**):D
This ought'a be good

That luxury makers have to find a way to get by, too.

Everyone knows it's not real unless Unca Carroll crapped out the aluminum ingots his own self.

RedBarchetta 10-27-2009 01:19 PM

He's just trying to steal some of Roush's thunder in the whole performance engine supply segment.

"...every engine overhauled or rebuilt will include an official “Rebuilt by Carroll Shelby Engine Company” tag that can be mounted in the engine bay."

And coming to an eBay auction near you, knock-offs from Bejing! :3DSMILE:

Well, it's more than your opinion; it's also your checkbook, which speaks louder.

You clearly believe this position, as I've seen you defend it vigorously across the board. You may even be right, as there's no telling what the next generation of collector/buyers will think.

My VHO is that Unca Carroll has rubber-stamped his name on so much stuff (some of it of VERY dubious quality and value) since the original days that the collectors will dismiss everything after 1968 or so - for good or bad, rightly or wrongly. Gresham's law applies to this kind of money as well...

Ah yes, this is the law that states that Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts, Denzel Washington, Gene Hackman, John Cusack, Dustin Hoffman, etc. are bad actors since they acted in movies based upon John Gresham's books.

If not, then I'll need our resident expert at everything, Patrick, to explain it to me.

I dont care to participate in the real or not real debate (and dont really care) but what about the "shelby" block my Roush engine started with. Unless I understood it wrong, Roush started out with a 427 shelby alum block for the 511 engine in my car. Am I incorrect?

You are correct. I had a CSX car on order through Hillbank (before I decided to go a different route) and it was slated for a Roush built 511 using a CSX block. Roush was even going to put the CSX# of the car on the block for me.

Hey, matching numbers!

I wonder if they would have done this for a Kirkham?

KMP 539 and CSX 931. Oh well. Another missed opportunity. **)
