Are you using anything to protect the paint on the rear deck from the top? Those of you who have used the pre-cut cleartastic(static cling) from Corvettes what years/series did you order(58-62,63-67,68-75, or C-5). Thanks for yor responses.

I bought a roll of 8 mil sheet plastic sign material to use as fender skirts for the rears at Blick Art Materials. Just cut to shape.

I have a dark coloured car & I just bought a roll of dark window tint, cleaned the car well & laid the static cling on & trimmed to fit.
Took a couple of hrs. to cut properly, very cheap to do.
Now whenever I put my softtop on in the fall I just unroll the pre-cut static cling in place on the car, install the top & good to go.
When I remove the softtop in the winter I just carefully roll up the static cling, put it in a ziplock bag ready to go for next fall.
This has worked for a number of years without any scratches so far.
This way I have a "clean" appearance when the top is not on.

Tbuttrick,
How does that static cling roll seem to work? Can you reuse the stuff from Blick Art Marterials after you cut it to shape. Were you able to cut it in one piece or 2?

Yes, you can reuse. I was able to cut a fender skirt in one piece and was big enough where the top of the skirt was about 3" below the top of the door. Spray the fender with mildly soapy water and squeegee on.
