I have a comment, but first a caveat. I've posted track videos on YouTube and every guy who's ever seen a race car on TV came out of the woodwork to tell me what I was doing wrong and how to go faster. So out of respect for the driver, I'll post my comment as a question. Am I the only one who thought that driver was doing an awful lot of steering? He reminds me of the golfer who came in happy that he had got to hit his ball a lot more times than the other poor suckers in his group.

I was getting dizzy watching the steering wheel... Ralph, you're right - it looks like it has the steering rack ratio of a go-kart!

NASCAR uses the term sawing the wheel. I said nothing to see if others commented.

Funny. I was just reading the latest issue of Classic Motorsports (#142) where they highlighted some of the more successful vintage car drivers who offered tips for the sport's newbies. One of the comments came from Patrick Long.. "Driving a car just below it's limit is oftentimes quicker than driving a car just over it's limit."

I'm no expert but that guy must go through some serious rubber.

I'm sorry...I got through the first 20 seconds and had to turn it off, as I was laughing too hard and couldn't see the video through my tears any longer.

No, I thought the same thing. I can only assume that he could be smooth if he wanted to, since he appears to have the skills...but smooth makes for a boring video.

Thumbs up Wow!

I was pretty impressed by this video. I have driven my BMW through curves in a drift like this, but never down straights. I have been able to drift my Cobra in an open parking lot when the tire setup was perfect, but do not have the skill to control the drift around a narrow racetrack. This driver appears to be drifting the short wheelbase Cobra most of the way around the track and passing cars, too. I wish there was an outside camera to show this.

Got to agree with everyone else. Not smooth.

He might get a few fast laps that way, but the tires would go off in no time and then he would be being passed by those that he passed.

That's drifting? Looked more like over steer to me.

I used to be a dirt track racer .... looks like to me the car wasn`t set up properly . I saw it/him go from pushing going in on the tighter turns to loose on exit as power came on . The car also pushed several times when he gave it throttle on exit . Looked like he was also having trouble getting the car to turn in on several corners .... but I did see one where he was almost where he needed to be as the car looked stable and the wheel didn`t need to be "sawed" a lot .
