Sooooooo...... street or S/C? That is one TOUGH choice. After ten years of this stuff, I still haven't made up my mind. If you want to go S/C, here's something to look at.

I've got two sets of side-pipes. One set is REAL loud and the other set sounds like stock 09 Mustang stuff. I can switch in an hour the night before an event. (and a couple of bourbons). I like to drive so the quiet pipes are perfect for the loooooong cruise. If I'm off to the track (as an attendee) and want to draw attention, then I throw on the loud pipes. Either way, I still like the S/C look best although it's a VERY fine line between the two. Contradictory to all of that... 289 FIA, loud, Webers, and raw is my thrill.

Still looking Buttrick . My thoughts are a used cobra , in this economy , is the way to go . ( Some guy once told me not to build to save money ;) ). But S/C's are more popular than street , and I prefer the look , safety and don't hate me ; the sound .

Sorry buttrick that post should have ended with " of a street cobra . " I need to be more clear . That being said , FIA289 IS Sweet . I didn't know that pipe trick , I am obviously still the grasshopper . :o

Here's another sweet Hurricane. I photoshopped the arch under the door sill. It's otherwise straight across from wheel to wheel which isn't right IMHO.

no arch...

Superformance lends itself to being a Roaster very well.

not so sure about the others, I am working on a CSX roadster, but that too may end up with sidepipes.

My street roadster is seen in post #28 of the thread referenced above. It is a combination of both S/C and roadster features. Roadster exhaust, bumperettes and dashboard. S/C hood scoop. Roll bar is neither. The stripes add a little bling. If I can just have one car, mine is the way I want it. It is just that that green car is so pure.

Aside from riding in a side piped big block car,and disliking the roar, plus climbing in and out of the car.Seeing one of these pictures convinced me to go with undercar exhaust.Having one parked in my garage makes me a happy and contented individual.

It's really very simple. Sidepipes are generally muffled - usually via a glasspack insert. Todd has two sets of pipes that he can interchange at will - one set is louder and less muffled than the other.

yup...I bought a set of side-pipe center sections that are "auger type", These have no glass pac mufflers but rather a simple auger like spiral in the center section. I had them welded up by ERA to the existing FFR header piece, added a turn-out at the end, and fitted them up. They are LOUD and no glass pac to deteriorate over time. I also bought a set of "Super Quiet Sidepipes" from Breeze Automotive for the FFR. I run these 90% of the time. They are awesome. I drive a lot in my car and the loud pipes tend to irritate. The quiet pipes simply sound like a healthy muscle car and are silent at highway cruising. These are conventional glass wrap type mufflers in the center section. I seem to feel a tad more torque down low from the quiet pipes . I'm trying to save what I have left of my hearing. I play the drums. :)
