Well... I appreciate all the comments. Good and bad. This is not something I do often. So please lets move on... Lets enjoy the story the video tells. We have all been in the same seat..........

The camera is great. All gearheads should have one. Can be mounted anywhere.... Under the hood, suspension articulation, the suction cup mount is solid, the options are endless. http://www.goprocamera.com/

Here is the car.

OK, I'm willing to forget the whole thing.:p Anyone on this board who owns a Cobra and says they've never gotten a little "high-spirited" on the street is just full of crap.

Shoot, I have a Jeep that sees 100+ several times a week!!!

Granted, it's a 420HP, 6.1 HEMI, SRT8 Jeep, but it's still a Jeep!!!

I love the sound of your car, and it looks great, too! Nice camera. I gotta get me one of those!

Did you notice the red light on the dash was on, I think that means theres something up with the alternator.

That light is for the cooling fan. On my car anyway... Thanks.

bobcowan 01-17-2010 07:57 PM

That didn't take long. 6 minutes for the safety moniter to show up.

Love the video, that's a pretty impressive camera. I don't think my video camera does that well, and it cost almost twice as much.

BTW, I had my car over 100mph just last week. It was fun, and it made me laugh out loud.

Remember the Wolf-Blitzer Rule.

dont post anything on the internet you dont want to have to explain to Wolf Blitzer on CNN.

Love those little go-pro cameras though. --too cool.

Beautiful car, thrilling ride, the HD video was outstanding! I'm grinning right along with you.

I never cease to be amazed that people will post a permanent record of their propensity for reckless driving on the Internet. Apparently they can't imagine that it may be used against them if they're ever in an accident where they might be at fault.

OMG give it a rest...as if they cops have the time and or patience to go through a bunch of websites etc to see if there MAY be a video of the gentleman doing something illegal. By the way I will have to go look at the vid again but can you actually SEE that he is doing a 100? Cripes who really cares ... hope ya had fun!
sheesh man relax ...
AND even if they were in a accident where the MAY be at fault ...what the heck would this video have to do with that particular accident? Nothing as I see it?

Amen!! Thank you.

Exactly what life is all about, and the very reason why most of us have these hot rods,Rock on! The wife will not ride with me when I feel the need for speed. Makes me crave for dry roads!

JBCOBRA 01-18-2010 05:12 AM

Loved the video. So did the wife.

Now I have Cobra Driving Withdrawl even worse.

vipertocobra 01-18-2010 05:31 AM

Hey Native

we spoke before....I have the same setup.. #785. How do you like those nittos? email me John@Fryeins.com

Tony Ripepi 01-18-2010 10:03 AM

Congrats,

Having fun with your Cobra........no matter what the comments here are, we have all done this with our cars. Your wife looked like she was having a good time and over the years I have done this and more. Taking an on ramp onto a freeway here in California and hitting 100+ has always been a weekly occurence for me.

But, like the old police sargent said on Hill Street Blues......"Be Careful Out there".....for you and everbody else. BTW even on the race track these cars will bite you. I recommend some driving school time with you and your snake on a race track, the 90" wheel base gives you no warning before it breaks loose and goes end around.

Cool video Native1, I made a few runs last night, maybe they were'nt 100, but too fast for the road I was on!
Anybody that has one of these cars and drives it like an old lady should do a self check!

Double Venom 01-18-2010 01:40 PM

patrickt,
Why would or do you think/say that. That video is simply a public act, "matter of record" and can be entered into any court of law, civil or criminal that I know of?

Just really curious?

It's a good question. The overriding general rule in American courts is that "prior bad acts" are inadmissable in both civil and criminal trials unless they fall in to a few exceptions. The reasoning behind that general rule is that the prejudicial impact of prior bad acts will outweigh the probative value of the evidence itself. It's also basically a "relevance" issue as well, just because you've been bad in the past doesn't mean you were bad today. Now, let's just suppose Native1 got in to an accident with this Cobra and the issue before the jury was whether he was driving negligently, or even recklessly, with his Cobra. If that video got in he's already got two and a half strikes against him with most juries (criminal or civil). Depending on the state, most judges would not let that video be played during the trial because it would be so prejudicial (and not very probative at all). But of course the plaintiff's attorney really wants the jury to see it because it paints Native1 as a reckless nut. One way you might be able to get it in is to allege that the Cobra has limited visibility and try and get the video in front of the jury with a "limiting instruction." The judge would tell the jury "You should not allow the video of Native1 doing 100MPH on that street influence your decision as to whether he was negligent, rather you should only let it influence your decision as to the visibility out of the car." Of course, the jury only half-listens to that and plaintiff's attorney will refer to the video as "defendant's 100mph flight down main street last year," or something like that, until the Judge tells him to quit doing that. Make sense?:3DSMILE:
