Default Scotch Briting wheels and repainting the centers

Hey,

Anyone have pictures where they have Scotch brited the polished rim
and repainted the centers to make them look like magnesium wheels ??

Anyone have a picture from a member named REAL1 that did it to
his black CSX4000 ?? Looked real sharp.

Searched CC with no luck.

Thanks in advance,
BC

No pictures but I talked to Bob Lacey with Vintage Wheel and he told me the up charge for doing that was about $200.00 per wheel. I wanted mine white on my Coupe. Grey looks just fine all the sudden.

A friend of mine went all out doing the polish thing. Gas cap, wheels, steering wheel arm's, everything that could be would be. In a few months I asked how that was working out. He said he wished he never did it! The maintenance to keep it nice was to much. Daily driver for him so that does make a difference.

That's Dave's car, what a great effect huh? The paint in the centres is all cracked and scaly to look like heavy oxidation. Having his and Jeffs parked side by takes you back 40 years. Great vintage look with the details from these guys.

I've logged a few miles in both of them. That car is now in Australia should be clearing customs about now. My site gives an idea of the price I think. His 289 early comp will be well represented as a period looking piece. These guys are patina masters.

Well I put it up on stands today to do my lists of things that need attention before car show season starts again.

Took a few minutes and Scoth brited one of the rears. This just look perfect in person. I bought a can of the Plastikote grey #285 on the way home last week. Hope to paint the centers next week.

Now if I would just break down and buy the Goodyear billboards !!

Best,
BC

Jeff and others who have Scotchbrited:

It sure does take some balls! I debated doing this for several months before scratching up my nearly perfect Trigos!! I Scotchbrited them Monday.

I also glass-beaded my 4 stainless steel knock-offs. I previously invested nearly 12 hours of polishing time in those knock-offs. It took just seconds of bead-blasting time to undo all that shine!

My wife gave me two thumbs up on the new look. I'm very satisfied with the new appearance.

David

After all the time I spent sanding and polishing the rims and stainless spinners, there is no way I am going to let anyone come within 10 feet of my rims with a ScotchBrite pad!
