Well we don't know for sure what John Q public thinks. But we do know what the leading authority says they (Continuation series) are and certainly what the buying and/or knowledgable general public seems to think. Again, I don't think guys drop close to and more than $100 large on what they perceive as faux Cobras. Thats the "general public" I am referring to.

In the end I really don't care what the non enthusiast with little or no knowledge about Cobras thinks about the Continuation series. Who cares about them????%/.

I know what my car is and so do those that understand what these cars are and have researched the issue in the SAAC Registry which is the Bible on these cars.

If I were to sell my car it would be bought at the appropriate price for the market at that time for a top of the line aluminum Shelby Cobra by someone who knows what it is and what its value is not by some unknowledgable John Q Public who doesn't know a FFR from a Shelby.

:LOL: Can't help but laugh on that one, no matter which side of the fence you stand on. I think I'll borrow that one the next time I'm filling her up at the gas station (just to see the funny looks that will undoubtedly follow).

As Jay mentioned in an earlier post, at day's end it is not so much a factor of what you drive as much as it is a factor of having fun driving whatever you have.

With respect towards the posters who mentioned that they do not particularly care what non-enthusiasts think about the topic. A bit of thought here. I am an enthusiast, know the differences between an FFR, ERA, Hurricane, SPF, Shelby, Kirkham, etc., know the difference between a Crate Boss 302 stroked out to 331 versus a more custom engine and even can talk with some intelligence about the differences between a carburated (maybe do not spell so great) versus a fuel injected engine (I love the look of the downdraft Webers without all of the hassle). Admittedly, I am a bit weak in my knowledge of transmissions. NET-NET of this tome, I am a car guy who really would like to buy a Cobra (my short list is mentioned earlier).

Having said this, and remembering that I am through the emotional end of my decision tree, I am now focused on the value end of the decision. Right or wrong, and looking at what other vehicles I could buy for the same $, I have reached a conclusion that there is not a specialty constructed vehicle (as defined by CA) in the world, that is worth $100k+ (well maybe if its an original handbuilt hot rod from the ground up by a Foose or someone similar). Also, please recognize that I am not saying that many builders may not actually have this much money invested in one of their builds. At least for me, regardless of whether it is an SPF, ERA, CSX or Kirkham, the price point for an SPCN vehicle is somewhere south of this figure.

While points are well made regarding what cars are bringing at auction, I would ask that you do a quick scan of the various Cobra dealers throughout the U.S. who have had $100k+ cars available for a very long time. They are all really nice rides, but they simply are not selling for what the dealer is trying to get for them (recognizing that there may be exceptions you know of).

The other point I make with some level of confidence is that the group of folks who have the emotional link and $ resources to buy these cars is not increasing by any significant level. I think I can also predict that as the economy plays out in 2010, the number of dealers selling rollers, particularly in the higher end cars, will decrease. While I do not wish anybody ill will, it is starting to feel like supply is exceeding demand right now. Some business models may be able to continue to ride out the storm, others may not be as fortunate. If I am right, then Jay's thoughts become even more important I think.

There are only two types of Cobras -originals and replicas. The "continuation" ones are replicas and their value is just that.

Ok , When it comes to cobras , Its like women and shoes , Women wear shoes to impress other women . I don't think anyone here cares what john Q public thinks , We are interested in what other Enthusiast think .Don't get me wrong here I would love a csx . But even Mr.Becker didn't call it real . So is it a kit car , sure is , comes as a kit don't it ? Csx3xxx came as a car . Hell an Aurora , Autocraft MrKIV even a Excaliber came as cars . So is it a real shelby ? Sure is , a real Shelby Cobra kit car . Just one poseur's 2cents .

People just need to find the seat that fits their ass the best and some seats are more expensive than others. That is dictated not only by the manufaturer but also who built it and the quality of the build. There are some CSX Cobra's that I would not even consider based on who built them.

An ever changing market. At B-J in Las Vegas 10/09 CSX 6021 sold for 128,000 and in Scottsdale 1/10 CSX 6018 sold for I think 93,500 or so. Both prices include 10% buyers fee. The hammer price in Scottsdale was I think 85,000. I was there but can't remember exactly.

I know I havent been around as long as a lot of you, but why does have to continue to be a pissing contest to see whose is better and bigger? Some of you suffer from CSX envy and some people like Evan cant seem to get over himself and that he has a alum csx and most people dont.

Half of this crowd wishes they could afford a CSX and seem to need to make excuses why they prefer theirs while bashing the continuation cars and Evan doesnt do any favors for the rest of us who own csx's but can appreciate ALL cobras. Evan you are a broken record and need a new recording. The rest of you need to get a life adn not bash those of us who bought a CSX just because we have always wanted an origianl but this is the closet we can get to it as we will never be able to afford the original

I never said mine was anything different than a replica. Not all of us that own a CSX suscribe to Evan's philosophy of real/fake. I happen to agree with you. I didnt buy my car because it was "real" or not, I bought it because it was the closest (to me) to the original. I dont care what it is worth in 5 years any more than I would a FFR, BDR or SPF as I dont plan on ever selling it. I personally preferred driving my csx to teh Superformance I owned, although the SPF has some nicer fit and finish is differnt areas.

Cars by nature are never to be viewed as assets anyway, but expenses. I bought mine to enjoy dirivng my dream car and wanted to put as much horsepower in it as possible. Everyone has different tastes and reasons why they buy what they do and I dont see the point in always wanting to argue why your choice is better than anyone elses. it was your choice, not mine and my choice is personal to me so it really isnt anyone's business about my car. I dont rag on anyone else's car and dont appreciate people raggin on mine just because Carroll Shelby has turned into an a@#$% in his old age. i dont like it any better than you do but that didnt influence my decision to want to buy my car. I didnt even know about any of what has been going on until I came on this site.

you have a beautiful car. I never knew about the Kirkhams until after I bought my csx otherwise I may of bought one of thiers. I only knew about FFR , SPF and Shelby when I got my car. I really wanted an alum CSX but it was a 6 month wait and I had already waited 35 years to get one. I kick myself now because it was only a $10K upgrade then and now a $50K-$60K upgrade now I think. I could of have the Alum roller for $60K + options but of well.

My comments sound like a broken record because as you pointed out I am confronted with the same comments here repeatedly on a public forum and I am defending what my car is as defined by SAAC and from what are intended to be demeaning characterazation of the Continuation series made by many here. Not important to you? Thats your business. Thats fine. It is of interest to me though.

I am not hung iup on not getting one, just regretting not spending the extra $10K when it is now $50K but that is hindsight. My point is that if we spent more time enjoying our cars and appreciating all cpobras and less pissing on eadch each other everyone would be happier. Thius isnt high school last itme I checked but it sure seems like it at times with someof you. You are right I dont know you from Adam but I would guess that you are a lawyer. Am I right?
