CSX6018 sold for 85000+10pct

dcdoug 01-23-2010 03:55 PM

Yeah, not as much as last time. I heard that place is pretty empty due to all of the storm complications.

csx4910 01-23-2010 05:12 PM

I was there yesterday and bythe afternoon the sun had come out and it was filling up. attendance today is average for BJ so I dont think the lack of crowds has to do with it as much as the economy. Replica and CSX cobras(continuation ones) have never done well at B-J at least not for the last several years. Only the originals seem to do well. There just isnt a big enough demand from the types of bidders they target for these cars. I would certainly look to buy one there as you can get a deal. The shelby/roush booth were trying to sell new csx6000 for $120K finished but I doubt they get many takers at that price

I'm pretty sure ther a Becker car (as this one is) went for 85k last January. One went for 120i in Vegas in Oct.

i thought there would be more interest in this , IMHO I was a pretty good deal for a brand new csx .

I wonder who built the 427 SO -- any idea how many SO blocks the originally made >?

They all must be accounted for by now :)

Csx6000

I agree with previous comments the engine would be lucky to have 600hp and some of the other claims are hard to believe.............!

Quite a nice looking car in its RARE paint job, I wouldnt mind it, but it would pale into insignificance for performance compared to the rocket ship under construction in my garage, but at least the CSX6000 is a runner.

I know that some of Becker's cars have had 600hp 427 SO's in them. One of them was built by the guy that built my engine. Becker also sources from some other builders too though and they are probably more like 500hp, although that's just a guess. He may not have updated his description text as the cars are all pretty similar.

"Not to be confused with Cobra replicas, these are genuine Shelby Cobras, authenticated by Shelby Automobiles, Inc. with proper CSX numbers and a Manufacturer's Statement of Origin (MSO), signed by Carroll Shelby himself. Only a small number are built each year and every car is listed in the official Shelby registry."

"The fiberglass body is strikingly finished in the LeMans-winning Shelby unique color, LeMans Blue, a particularly rare color and one that complements this performance icon very well."

And two others went in the "60 K" range before that !!!!

The CSX market is all over the place but not in the 120k range in this economy.

Yep, CSX6021 sold for $117K + 10% buyer's premium at B-J Las Vegas 2009.

Other continuation Cobra sales at Barrett-Jackson in the last few years:
  • CSX4000-series (racing green) sold for $100K at Scottsdale 2009
  • CSX4986 sold for $87K at Scottsdale 2009
  • CSX4066 sold for $97K at Scottsdale 2008
  • CSX7028 sold for $64K at Scottsdale 2008
  • CSX4213 sold for $140K Scottsdale 2007
  • CSX4000-series (80th birthday car) sold for $127.5K at Scottsdale 2004
  • CSX4000-series (black) sold for $105K at Scottsdale 2004

If you are in the market for a CSX6xxx and find one being sold at an auction that meets your criteria (color, engine/trans, etc.), then recent history would say that it's better to buy through the auction and save some coin. My observations indicate that the resale market for Cobras in general remains soft, even by BJ standards.

Well, you can roll your eyes and laugh all you want if that makes you feel better but the fact of the matter is the general public and those that buy and sell these cars including auction houses have begun to clearly view CSX continuaiton Cobras as authentic Shelby Cobras and more then mere "replicas" as that term is commonly used and understood today.

The fact that CSX 6018 ( a glass car) sold for $93,500.00 including commission says something. And in a bad economy no less. People don't plunk down close to or over 100 large for a faux Cobra. When looking at the auction sales numbers you have to add the commission to the sale price. That gives you the true selling number. Buyers certainly take this commission into consideration as to what they will bid. While 6018 sold at auction for less then MSRP that happens at auctions. Sometimes you get a good buy. Sometimes you overpay.

Oh, and since you own a Kirkham (a nice one by the way) by dragging down the Shelbys you are to a degree dragging down your own car as Kirkhams have accepted into the Shelby Registry with the Continuation series. Just a thought.
