OK, 92" then, dam, I've been tracked down and busted by "da man" even over here. Quick, where's Pat when you need him? :)

The Lincoln Versailles had a 9" IRS setup and to this day is somewhat coveted in hot rodding circles. Some drop forged stub-axles and moly-tubed half shafts and you're ready for some wrinkle-wall low 9 second runs..**)

The Lincoln Versailles had a 9 inch with disc brakes with a parking brake that rodders liked, but not a IRS--that was later with an 8.8

whats the differance between 3 " of travel in a foot long drive shaft compared to 3" of travel in a 12" half shaft???

Naah, it's more like "a horse walks into a bar..." and the bartender says "why the long face?":p

No Ernie---but it does draw attention to the fact that 3" of travel with a solid axle car with 12" driveshaft has about same angular differance as an IRS rear with 3" of travel and 12 " half shafts
