Valve Cover Gasket Removal
Okay, so I removed my valve covers that are cork and were glued on (both sides) with Right Stuff or something like that.
I finally got it all off the heads/intake manifold. (FE) I got the cork off the valve covers, but was unable to get the "sealer" mentioned above off. I have used 2+2 gum cutter and a plastic razor blade and no use. I tried a real razor blade, but already put a small nick on the valve covers. Any tried and true methods that I could try? |

Are the valve covers steel or cast aluminum? I have cast aluminum on my small block and use Moroso blue rubber steel core gaskets. I had a 64 Chevelle SS with cast aluminum valve covers back in the day before RTV. Used Permatex #1 to glue the cork gaskets. I removed the old Permatex with a wire wheel. You can use a wire wheel on steel covers also.

Mine are cast aluminium (Bristish) ;)
