If you read the article, he landed upside down in the creek. I'm hoping it was mechanical failure and not some idiot with more money than brains trying to show off his car.........

I'm betting it was a loose nut behind the wheel that caused it.

"Police say the 57-year-old driver was watching a racing event at UTA, but as he was leaving, he lost control of the car and went over a curb, only to land in a small creek.

The race the driver was watching is part of the 10th annual Texas Autocross event that included 35 cars from 14 colleges."

I believe I saw this car at the Autorama in Dallas. This was about mid February. The owner was about 57 years old, grayed haired fella. It was a polished Kirkham, remebered it very well was drooling severely.

I'm willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. Apparently there was no harm done other than to the car and the driver's ego, so I'm willing to call it a broken carb return spring that locked him at full throttle. Who knows? He might have saved lives by carefully pointing his car in to the creek in order to avoid others.

If it was that simple, push in the clutch. Dah!!! I saw a great skit on you-tube about run away Prius'. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZ4PtafRB9c The bottom line -put it in neutral or turn off the F--King key. Maybe to expect something that simple is interfering with God's plan with weeding out the stupid ones.
