Can you show me your MERLOT Cobra paint job !
Guys,any of you have a Cobra painted Ford Merlot with or without flakes.
Can you describe the color code,tell me details about the paint if you added flakes or not. I'm looking forward to get mine painted that color probably without stripes and wonder if it's expensive,just need an average,thanks ! Michel |
...seems as if my wife's '06 Taurus color is Merlot - Is that the color you are thinking of??? Regardless, I'll take a look at the numbers when she gets home and post this evening.

About the merlot color
Gordon I went on the gasholes.com forum but I think that to see the pictures you have to join and I'm in too many forums already that I won't join that one but I got a good reference from "Snakebit". I found a Ford Merlot sample but it's too hard to see samples are too small. I also found another forum member that has a Cobra painted Ford Merlot with flakes,no stripes and I asked him the paint code.
His car is exactly painted the way i want,same deep rich merlot color so I hope he sends the code. keep showing me what you got please I appreciate all your replies,cheers! Michel |

...checked the color code on the 2006 Taurus - looks like EXT PNT FX I also looked at a 2004 Taurus of the same color and the code is identical - EXT PNT FX Maybe someone who is more familiar with paint codes could tell you if that is the info you need. It is a nice color. Terry |

Could it be 2005 FX Merlot ? I saved a picture on my Laptop background that was emailed to me by a FFR member and it looks exactly like that color. Still waiting for the reveal. |

Sorry for taken so long to get back to you. It a 2005 ford FX color code, 4 coats os base with 5 coat of clear, color sanded and polished

The maroon on my car is off of a Ford Navigator?/Expedition 96/97/98? maroon. Got the paint code off the door jam on a car on a dealer lot, was the car next size up from Explorer...have the number in my files somewhere. Check out my gallery, one shot is in good sun, the other taken on a overcast day. Maroon, variations around it are some of my favorite colors. Pete |
Thanks Pete,lovely car,never tired of looking at those car. The color looks pretty close to Merlot. I'm still not decided for sure,very hard to choose between three colors and I can't eliminate any of them ,I guess the price will decide for me,cheers

A friend of mine, agonizing over the blue for his 427", finally had a shop put several of his favorites in spray cans...used a dented car fender and painted large swatches side by side. It was not just having the colors side by side, but at the same ANGLE to the light and viewing angle. Differences stand out much more under those conditions. Just make sure which ever you pick, it doesn't tend to have a cast/shade you find annoying...I have seen one rich maroon paint chip that was practically purple under some circumstances. Didn't like that a bit, but with small paint chips it can sure be hard to tell... |
