What is the condition of your Cobra?

I am curious about the condition of your Cobras. The poll is self-explanatory, post additional comments if you wish. Or don't. ;)

Edit: There was supposed to be a poll with this, but it didn't appear, so:

1. You keep your Cobra car-show ready at all times and never leave home unless its spotless.
2. You keep your car fairly clean, but it might be dirty or in need of a cleanup when you head out.
3. Your Cobra looks like your mini-van, complete with french fries behind the seat.
4. Your Cobra is generally clean, but its rough around the edges and looks more like a race car than a show car.

I guess mine fits in the #4 catagory. It looks like
it was rode hard and put away wet. After all it's going on 24yrs old. I keep up on the maintenance. She's getting a redo soon though.

Hersh:)

I set up the poll for ya...had to cut No. 4 down a bit due to character limitations for the box.

Personally, mines a little of No. 2 and a little of No. 4...akin to ridden well and put away wanting more. :p

Careful-this looks painfully like Mr. Superfluous' kind of thread. You're a rough and ready kind o'guy...

Oh and my car? The top is perfect and the bottom is covered with oil... What poll number would that be??

1985 CCX 08-24-2010 03:35 PM

Almost a roller...... :o

Silverback51 08-24-2010 03:47 PM

I'm a 2 and 4 myself.

Although it's not bad considering it's got over 21,000 mile on it.

lamaluv 08-24-2010 03:47 PM

My Cobra is a little rough around the edges (number 4) but she was built in 1980. I think that is over 200 in dog years but I'm not sure about Cobra years. I'll have to call Peter at ERA and find out what the conversion factor is.

Chas...how does it get covered in oil if you don't drive it ???:LOL::LOL:

lamaluv 08-24-2010 04:05 PM

Tony you must not have a FE engine or you wouldn't have to ask that question.:D

With over 84,000 miles, the paint still shines well. There are a bunch of nicks on the front end, the carpet has faded a bit, and the leather seats are showing a bit of use, but I DO drive mine as often as possible...although a lot fewer car shows now that I have the "Pro Street" Henry J to drive.

CHANMADD 08-24-2010 04:33 PM

a street fighter

mines also 21 years old so it is definately like No 4 ...

mrmustang 08-24-2010 04:52 PM

2 & 4 for me...........

I just don't drive it where YOU drive.

And Lama-you're dead right. He's got a limo 385 in there...

joyridin' 08-24-2010 07:26 PM

Number 4 here...probably because I did race it...LOL Haven't messed with it much since the motorcycle came along. Maybe next year...

Great Asp 08-24-2010 07:31 PM

I don't get to drive mine as much as I would like (I am actually looking forward to pulling the transmission this winter, is that sane?), so it is always in show condition, but I do not enter it in shows.......I get bored :p

I do my best to keep it spotless and show ready down to the polished engine. To put it bluntly it is a giant pain!!!!!! I always try to convince myself to just drive and enjoy but always find myself cleaning/polishing as much as I drive. The smallest spec drives me nuts.

I need a beater Cobra!!

Ibr8k4vetts 08-24-2010 08:11 PM

I'm the only number 3.... I take mine to the Home Depot for 2X4's:eek::LOL::LOL: Less damage than the track!

That's funny. He's probably out in the garage trying to decide.:)

I guess for those of us whose cars are beautiful on top but oily on bottom, I should have added a "Gulf of Mexico" option.

Assolutely

HI Cobra 08-25-2010 12:00 AM

#'s 2 & 4 for me. I'd rather be driving and enjoying it than worrying about
show quality cleanliness so I mainly hit the high spots and drive on. Got a lift
for the Kirkham so no problem keeping the bottom relatively oil free - just
enough to discourage rust. Heh heh.
